Barakah & Banter vs Wudu Rather?: Which Muslim Couple Game Is Right for You?

Barakah & Banter vs Wudu Rather? comes down to the kind of evening you want. Choose Barakah & Banter for laughter and competition: a spinner, 200 cards and quick-fire challenges. Choose Wudu Rather? for playful choices and deeper conversation built around the five love languages, perfect for newlyweds and romantic couples. Both are Shariah-approved and reviewed by a qualified Ustadh.
We made both games, so we know them inside out, including what each one does better. Below is an honest side-by-side to help you choose, whether you are picking for yourselves or for a couple you love. (Spoiler: most couples end up with both.)
What is the difference between Barakah & Banter and Wudu Rather?
Barakah & Banter is a fast, competitive game for the two of you: spin the spinner, then Compete, Perform or Reveal to win points. Wudu Rather? is a would you rather game built around the five love languages: flip the decision coin, then answer a question or take on your spouse's challenge.
Barakah & Banter in a nutshell
Every turn starts with a spin. Land on Compete and you both go head to head, so someone always takes the point. Land on Perform and you act, sketch or mimic something until your spouse guesses it. Land on Reveal and you write your own answer on your mini whiteboard first, then find out whether your spouse knows you as well as they think.
The first spouse to 8 points wins and draws a Prize card to redeem whenever they like. The box holds 200 cards (60 Compete, 60 Perform, 60 Reveal and 20 Prize), the spinner, two mini whiteboards and two markers.
Wudu Rather? in a nutshell
Every turn starts with a flip of the decision coin. General means a would you rather question to answer and talk through, with no points at stake. Challenge means your spouse draws from their deck and gives you two tasks to choose between. Do one and win the point, or bail and hand the point over.
The first to 8 points wins, or whoever is ahead when the 30 minute timer runs out, and the winner draws a Prize card. The box holds 150 cards (60 General, 35 Challenges From Him, 35 Challenges From Her and 20 Prize) plus the decision coin.
What both games share
Both were reviewed card by card by a qualified Ustadh before they went to print, and you can read how every card got approved. Both come with a free companion app that runs in your browser, with a points tracker and timers, so there is nothing to download.
And both include a thank you card with a code that unlocks Habibi Let's Talk, the premium deck in the Muslim Couple Games app, complimentary with your game.

Choose Barakah & Banter if you want laughter and competition
Barakah & Banter is the louder of the two. It is made for couples who like to win, love a bit of friendly banter and do not mind looking silly in front of each other. Pick it if:
- You are both competitive, or one of you is and the other loves winding them up
- You want proper laugh-out-loud moments, not polite smiles
- You like variety: a head-to-head race one turn, acting something out the next, then guessing an answer your spouse has already written down
- You want something that works in a quick 15 minutes or stretches over a whole evening
- You have been married a while and want fun that does not depend on learning new facts about each other

It travels well too. One customer told us:
“I personally prefer barakah and banter because there's more elements to the game. We've taken it to picnics”
Customer review, Barakah & Banter
It is also our go-to pick for a halal date night at home when you want energy rather than a quiet chat.

Choose Wudu Rather? if you want playful choices and more romance
Wudu Rather? leans on love. It is still competitive, since every challenge is worth a point, but the General cards get you talking and the challenge decks are written separately for husband and wife, so every challenge feels made for the person taking it.
Some of those challenges will take you out of your comfort zone. A few long-married couples find that a little cringey at first. For newlyweds, that is exactly the point: it gives you a reason to be a bit vulnerable, laugh at yourselves and build your marriage on strong foundations from the start. Romantic couples tend to breeze through it and ask for another round. Pick it if:
- You are newly married, or about to be, and want to laugh, open up and start your marriage strong
- You are a romantic couple who loves a playful challenge
- You would like to learn how your spouse feels loved, because the cards are built around the five love languages
- You enjoy a good debate about which option is better, and defending your answer
- You like the tension of a challenge you can bail on, knowing your spouse takes the point if you do
- You want a game with a clear finish line: 30 minutes, or first to 8
If love languages are new to you, our guide to the five love languages in Islam is a good place to start.

Which is the best Muslim couple game if you have been married for years?
For couples who have been married for years, Barakah & Banter is usually the best Muslim couple game to start with. Its Compete and Perform cards are about doing rather than discovering, so they are just as funny in year twenty as in week one, and the Reveal cards still find a few surprises.
Wudu Rather? is the more romantic of the two. If you are happy to step a little out of your comfort zone, it makes a lovely follow-up once you are warmed up.

“Although we have been married for 30 years, this is still good and fun ... will be buying a second set for our son as a wedding present”
